Agra Metro Update: In a major update for residents of Agra, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has ramped up its efforts to complete the civil work, including tracks at the underground metro stations in Agra.

As part of it, the tracks have been laid between two stations, and the work is on to lay the track between the rest of the stations on the Taj East to RBS station route. Currently, the Agra Metro is operational only from Taj East to the Mankameshwar station.

Operations to start by September

The remaining track-laying work will be completed in the next two months, and the operations are likely to start by September this year on the route between Taj East and RBS Station.

Providing an update on the status of the work on Agra Metro, UPMRC Project Director Arvind Rai said that the work on RBS station, Rajamandi station, and Agra College has been completed. Apart from that, the construction work between SN and Mankameshwar station is half completed.

The track-laying work between RBS and Rajamandi station is almost complete. The UPMRC is also completing other works like signaling, CCTV cameras, cabins, and alarm systems.

The route between Taj East and Sikandra is the first corridor. According to the UPMRc plan, the corridor stretches 13. 7 km and has 6 elevated and 7 underground stations. With completion till RBS Station, only three stations will be left in the corridor.

Construction speed increased on Corridor 2

Moreover, the UPMRC is also expediting the construction work on the 15.7 km long corridor 2 that stretches from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar. The entire stretch has 14 elevated stations.

Due to this, the barricading has been done from SN Emergency to St John's Bridge. The work of making pillars between Agra Cantt and Sadar is underway at a fast pace. A U-girder has also been installed on one of the pillars.
