A 50-year-old woman was killed and her husband was left in critical condition after their moped was struck by a speeding, unidentified vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Raebareli Road on Friday morning. The accident occurred in the Kalli Paschim area.

According to police, Ram Naresh, a resident of Banke village in Rahimabad, was returning from a relative's house with his wife, Ram Sakhi. As they neared Kalli Paschim, their moped was hit by the vehicle, throwing both of them onto the road. The vehicle then ran over Ram Sakhi before the driver fled the scene.

Following the collision, a crowd gathered and the police were informed. Officers arriving at the location, with the help of passers-by, rushed the couple to a hospital. Upon arrival, doctors pronounced Ram Sakhi dead. Her husband, Ram Naresh, remains in a serious condition.

Inspector Dhirendra Singh stated that a search for the unidentified vehicle has been launched. "The investigation is ongoing, and we are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle involved," he said.
