Lucknow Rape Case: A three-year-old girl was raped and hospitalised on Thursday. According to police, she is said to be in a critical condition. The crime took place late Wednesday night when the girl, the daughter of daily wage labourers, was sleeping under a metro station.
The accused took the girl away while her parents were sleeping and raped her at a secluded place, police said.
Following the report, senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Ashish Kumar Srivastav inspected the crime scene on Wednesday night itself. The girl was taken to a hospital and was then referred to a higher medical centre for treatment.
A Case Registered With Alambagh Police Station
"We have registered a case under relevant sections at Alambagh police station, and an intensive investigation is currently underway. We have formed five teams to investigate the incident and arrest the culprit. Police are actively scrutinizing CCTV footage to identify the accused," said the DCP.
Srivastava said, "On June 5, information was received at Alambagh Police Station from the One Stop Centre that the two-and-a-half-year-old daughter of a couple living under the Chandanagar Metro Station was sexually assaulted."
"We got to know that when the couple found the girl in a critical situation, they first took the child to Lok Bandhu Hospital, where doctors confirmed the assault and informed the One Stop Centre. The police launched an investigation after the case was filed. Five teams have been deployed. We are working to find the culprits. Our team members are also there with the victim at the hospital," he added.
Meanwhile, the forensics teams have reached the spot to collect evidence. Investigations are underway, and further details are awaited.
