To streamline the city’s traffic system, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has reintroduced the crane system, handing over 16 cranes to the traffic police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Kamlesh Dixit said vehicles found parked in no-parking zones will be lifted and sent to the dumping yard, and will be released only after payment of the prescribed fine.
A two-day public awareness campaign will be conducted across all eight traffic zones starting Wednesday, covering key stretches in each zone:
-Zone 1 (Hazratganj/Saharaganj): Atal Chowk to Raj Bhawan Gate No. 2, Atal Chowk to Sikanderbagh Square, Balmiki Tiraha to Subhash Square, Alka Tiraha to Saharaganj, Dunlop Square to Sapru Marg, Royal Hotel Square to Rana Pratap Square, Mayfair Square to Novelty Lalbagh Square.
-Zone 2 (Charbagh): Charbagh Ravindralaya to GRP Line, Charbagh to Kaiserbagh Bus Adda, Nazirabad Chowki to Jhandewala Park Maulviganj, Ashoklat Square to Subhash Square.
-Zone 3 (Mahanagar): Nishatganj to Badshahnagar, Nishatganj to IT Square, IT Square to Hanuman Setu Tiraha, Kapurthala/Engineering College, Ram-Ram Bank Square to Alkapuri, Faizullaganj to Keshavnagar Mor, Faizullaganj Sabzimandi to Madiyawan Dhal.
-Zone 4 (Captain Manoj Pandey Square/Wave Mall/Polytechnic): Polytechnic Square to Lekhraj Market, Tedhipulia to Mama Square and Gudamba, Polytechnic Square to Sushma Hospital Tiraha, Patrakarpuram to Husadiya Square.
-Zone 5 (Barabirwa/Alambagh Canal): Tedhipulia to Alambagh Square, Alambagh Square to Barabirwa Square.
-Zone 6 (Medical College/Chowk): Charak Square to Nakkhas Tiraha, Medical College Square to Shahmeena Square, Lalmadhav Haiderganj Square to Balaji Temple, Koneshwar Square to Balaganj Square.
-Zone 7 (BBD/Bhootnath): Katauta to IGP Square, Katauta to Chinhat Square, Katauta to Haneman Square, Haneman Square to Husadiya Square, BBD to Tiwariganj Square.
-Zone 8 (Lulu Mall/Ashiana): Subhani Kheda to Telibagh to PGI, Satyasai Data Marg to Plassey Mall to Lulu Mall.
Officials have stressed the need for strict enforcement in high-traffic and sensitive areas, particularly around Atal Chowk, where influential establishments and restaurants often see persistent traffic violations.
