Succumbing to circumstances and accepting oneself as "old" due to advancing age is a mindset that weakens the spirit. However, when this mindset is reversed, age becomes irrelevant, and even older individuals transform into "Ironmen." Possessing such mental fortitude, 57-year-old Kaushal Kumar Yadav has defied age by completing the Ironman 70.3 Goa, successfully claiming the Ironman title.

Notably, among approximately 1,300 participants from 31 countries, Kaushal Kumar secured the 513th position overall. Furthermore, he ranked 14th in his specific age category (55 to 59 years). The "70.3" in the event title refers to the total distance in miles, which equates to 113 kilometers. Currently serving as a Director in the Military Engineering Service (MES), Chief Engineer (CE) Bhopal Zone, Kaushal Kumar Yadav has become the first MES civilian officer from Meerut to achieve this feat.

A resident of Mansarovar and a Group "A" officer from the 2000 UPSC batch, Kaushal Kumar Yadav holds the distinction of being the country's first MES civilian officer of Director rank to complete the Ironman competition. The event was a triathlon requiring participants to complete a 1.9 km open-water swim, a 90 km bicycle ride, and a 21.1 km run (half marathon). He completed this grueling journey in 7 hours, 45 minutes, and 5 seconds.

Breaking down his performance, Kaushal Kumar completed the 1.9 km swim in 51.12 minutes, the 90 km cycling segment in 3 hours, 36 minutes, and 38 seconds, and the 21.1 km run in 3 hours and 15 seconds.

His journey as a runner began in 2008, and his commitment to fitness has only strengthened in recent years. He prepared for the triathlon under the guidance of Coach Jamran from TriGy Athletes, Bhopal. Notably, five individuals from the Military Engineering Services participated in this Ironman event, and all five successfully completed the challenge.

The MES has recognised their success by sharing photos and details of all five "Ironmen" on its official website, extending congratulations to the team. Kaushal Yadav's achievement serves as a powerful example of dedication and perseverance, proving that when determination is unwavering, age is no barrier.
