Metro Hospital in Noida's Sector-11 has started a unique new service for heart patients called the 'Heartwise Second Opinion Clinic'.

The main goal of this clinic is to provide better and high-quality treatment options for people with heart conditions, and to guide young people on how to prevent serious diseases. It will be jointly run by two top doctors: Dr Vinay Kumar Bhal, the former head of cardiology at AIIMS Delhi and Dr Sameer Gupta, a senior heart specialist.

The hospital explained that they often see that even after talking to a specialist, about 30 per cent of patients are still confused about the next step in their treatment. This second opinion clinic is designed to solve that confusion.

Here’s how it works:

- First, patients or their family members will register by booking an appointment online.

- At the clinic, a senior heart specialist will carefully review the patient's old medical reports, like angiographies and echocardiograms.

- After understanding the patient's medical history, they will do a digital check-up and show the reports. A physical examination will only be done if absolutely necessary.

- If any extra tests are needed to get a clearer picture of the illness, that advice will be given. The doctors will explain the risks and benefits of any treatment, keeping in mind the patient's age, heart condition, and other health issues like diabetes or kidney problems.

- Finally, the patient will receive a written treatment plan, and their relatives will also be fully updated on the situation.

Dr Sameer Gupta says that there are often multiple treatment options for heart disease, which can confuse patients. His goal is to reduce this uncertainty, help patients avoid unnecessary procedures, and clearly explain the treatment process, especially in complicated cases.

Dr Purushottam Lal, the Chairman of the Metro group, added that getting a second opinion is part of responsible medical practice. He said this clinic makes a formal process out of what good doctors already do—listen carefully, analyze thoroughly and give transparent recommendations. He also specified that this clinic would be especially helpful for patients who have been advised to get a bypass or a stent, or for those with diabetes and kidney disease who are confused by different recommendations.
