In preparation for the proposed three-tier Gram Panchayat elections next year, the electoral roll in Lucknow is being updated. During the first phase of the revision campaign, which concluded on September 29, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) identified approximately 57,000 names for removal and added around 97,000 new voters to the list.
The District Election Office clarified that the names being removed include deceased individuals and duplicates. Verification is being carried out across 491 Gram Panchayats by 667 BLOs. According to the latest data, 94,738 new voters have been added, while 57,641 names have been deleted.

Among the assembly constituencies, Mohanlalganj recorded the highest number of new voters, with over 30,000 additions, followed by Malihabad and Bakshi Ka Talab. Mohanlalganj also topped the list for voter removals, with 19,966 names deleted. Bakshi Ka Talab is second in this category.
BLOs have been updating the voter list since August 19, and the process will continue until January next year. The administration has emphasised strict adherence to verification protocols amid ongoing disputes between political parties and the Election Commission. An app developed by the Commission ensures that BLOs must be physically present at locations to complete verification, preventing any negligence.
