YEIDA News: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) would now purchase agricultural land for industrial and urbanisation projects for Rs 4,300/sqm instead of Rs 3,400/sqm, police said on Tuesday, in response to farmers' concerns. A rate increase proposal is expected to be approved by Yeida at its board meeting on March 28.

The cost for land acquired for phases three and four of the Noida Airport project was hiked by the state government in December 2024 from Rs 3,400/sqm to Rs 4,300/sqm. Farmers began protesting, seeking the same pricing for agricultural land that did not fall within this category, which remained at Rs 3,400/sqm.

“We have prepared a proposal to offer Rs 4,300 per square metre to farmers whose land is to be procured for our industrial and other urbanisation projects. This is to make sure that the farmers whose land is earmarked for developmental projects outside the airport project site get the same price offered to farmers whose land is acquired for the airport. We will put this proposal in the March 28 board meeting and get approval so that the farmers get a fair price for their land,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of Yeida.

Yeida has a policy of purchasing land directly from farmers through the register rather than using the lengthy procedures of the Land Act of 2013. According to authorities, Yeida would offer Rs 4,300/sqm in direct registry form to acquire land for planned development projects along the Yamuna Expressway after the board accepts the raise request.
