Women in Uttar Pradesh are increasingly stepping into entrepreneurship under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Abhiyan Yojana, with more than one lakh women registered so far. Of these, loans have already been distributed to 21,350 women, while nearly 14,200 have successfully launched their businesses. Others are in the process of setting up enterprises.
Launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on January 24 (Uttar Pradesh Day), the scheme provides interest-free, collateral-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh to youth for setting up businesses. So far, 63 per cent of beneficiaries have opted for the service sector, while 37 per cent have invested in production units.
To ensure quick facilitation, the MSME Department has linked the scheme with 10+ banks and mandated that applications be cleared within 2448 hours. Daily monitoring reports are being taken from district-level industry departments, and banks have been instructed to avoid delays in disbursing loans.
The government is also organising awareness camps in educational institutions to encourage more youth, especially women, to take advantage of the scheme.
