The cricket fandom found itself in the middle of a chaotic storm soon after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the list for India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad. The much-awaited announcement that was made on August 21, has triggered a reaction over the decision of ‘playing eleven’ in the tournament. Amid all this, former India head coach Ravi Shastri’s suggestion to send Viral Kohli to bat in the 4th position dropped like a bomb on the fans, and now social media is full of retaliation against the suggestion. The internet is full of people reacting against Shastri and his reasons to change Kohli’s position. On top of that, the former head coach is also in the eye of the storm for his efforts to get three left-handers in the top 7.
“If Virat has to bat at four, he will bat at four in the interest of the side. You know, there were times I thought of it,” Shastri was quoted as saying in a chat on Star Sports’ Selection Day show.
Taking to their social media handles, the fans expressed their disappointment with the statement.
“Ravi Shastri should stop giving opinions now that he has moved on from being Indian team Cricket Coach.. Let the current coach and captain decide what is best for the team and act accordingly? If they do not win the cup, Shastri to be held accountable?” a user read.

Asia Cup is a men's One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket tournament. This year, the tournament is scheduled to be held from August 30 to September 17. The matches will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
