Indian weddings, over the years, have earned the status of a ‘big fat wedding’ for all the obvious reasons. From sangeet to reception, everything is often celebrated in the most gala way. Doing something similar, a few guests went all out during the baraat at a wedding. The wedding procession included multiple SUVs that were heading to Greater Noida from Delhi on the night of November 26. But the entire thing turned into a nightmare after the procession was stopped at Gaur Chowk over ‘traffic violations’ and ‘rash driving’, as per reports. The police reportedly booked 7 baraaties and seized 5 SUVs at the spot. After proper identification, a challan of nearly Rs 4 lakh was imposed on 12 other vehicles.
The police later revealed that they received multiple complaints from commuters over the matter. On checking the CCTV, they found out that the guests at the baraat were throwing money, honking loudly and nearly blocked the traffic, after which the action was taken. As per the reports, the police also allowed the groom’s vehicle to pass though as it was not involved in any kind of traffic violation. A video of the same went viral on social media and gained mass criticism from the netizens.
A video of the aftermath was also shared on the social media site X ‘formerly Twitter), by the user ‘Avinash KS’. The post was captioned, “Guests who had come from Shaheen Bagh, Delhi, for a wedding in Greater Noida were blowing horns on the way and throwing currency notes from moving vehicles. Challan of Rs 3.94 lakh for 14 vehicles. 5 vehicles seized.” It showed people picking up the cash that was thrown on the road by the baraaties.
