IndiGo Flight Viral Video: Despite being something that mostly deteriorates a worker’s physical and mental health, along with also hampering their productivity, overworking is mostly glorified and flaunted by many- especially in the corporate sector. The practice sure is something that needs to stop, but there are a few sectors where such overworking can actually lead to life loss. For example, take the aviation industry, where an overworked pilot working after hours can lead to a horrific accident. Perhaps to prevent something similar, an IndiGo pilot refused to fly his Pune to Bengaluru bound flight. Reportedly, the refusal was allegedly over the pilot’s ‘work hours ending’. A video of some angry passengers demanding answers from the pilot and the air hostess was shared on social media, which went viral.

As per the viral post, the flight was delayed by 5 hours due to the pilot’s refusal. As the post went viral, most people advocated for the pilot, calling his refusal a correct decision. Many pointed out the possibility of an accident due to an overworked pilot flying a plane, while the rest commented on the legal issues the pilot can face due to the same.

The IndiGo video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘AG_knocks’. The post was captioned, “Indigo flight was delayed for 5 hrs after Pilot refuses to take off due to work hrs ending. Frustration of Passengers can clearly be seen. But Why blame only the Pilot ?? Blame the company, not the crew. Indigo has become a joke.” The video was shared two days ago and pulled 1.3M views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Do understand that Pilot & Crew duty time limits are set by regulators Worldwide- for the safety of the passengers. It’s not like a factory where workers can clock in & out when needed. The pilots CANT exceed their Duty limits as it invites penalty from the DGCA including implications for their license,” a user said.

“This is normal. Happens across airlines around the world. Pilots have to take approval and it’s a time-consuming process,” wrote a second person. “That is a management issue. Most of the time it's the air hostess who faces the brunt of the people's anger which in fact should go to the management and the company,” added another.
