Iran-Israel War: Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the Israeli military reported on Saturday that, alongside strikes on Tehran, it had targeted an airport in Isfahan, Iran, destroying several F-14 fighter jets, though the exact number was not specified.
The airstrikes affected various locations across Isfahan province, killing at least 11 individuals as US-Israeli jets hit manufacturing sites and a horse-riding club, as per Tasnim news agency. A total of at least eight cities in the central province were struck: Isfahan, Najafabad, Aran, Bidgol, Barkhar, Khomenei Shahr, Shahreza, Falavarjan, and Mobarakeh.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared an update via Telegram, stating, “Additionally, detection systems and air defense systems that posed a threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft were struck."
The IDF further claimed, “This strike is in addition to the strike which dismantled 16 ‘Quds Force’ aircraft two days ago [Friday] at the Mehrabad airport in Tehran."
Meanwhile, Isfahan is home to a nuclear energy facility, and the province had been a key focus for both the US and Israeli governments during recent talks with Iran, which ended only a few weeks ago.
In Tehran and the Alborz province, at least four tanker drivers were killed in Israeli attacks on oil depots, according to Fars news agency.
The US and Israel are also contemplating the possibility of deploying special forces within Iran to seize its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, Axios reported. This action is thought to be considered only at a “later stage,” once both countries decide that Iran is unable to mount a meaningful defence, the report added.

The US and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran on February 28, triggering an immediate response from the Islamic Republic, which retaliated with missile strikes across the region. The conflict has led to the involvement of global powers, disrupted energy and transport sectors worldwide, and caused instability even in typically peaceful areas, such as the UAE, where Iran has attacked US military bases.
