Over 70 per cent of houses in Gaza have been turned into rubble since Israel launched a massive counteroffensive in the Palestinian enclave to avenge the latter’s October 7 misadventure, Times of Israel reported citing a report by the Wall Street Journal.

After analysing satellite photography of the Strip and other remote sensing methods, the damage was ascertained. The findings revealed the infrastructure destroyed in Gaza includes, residential buildings, schools, hospitals, malls, hotels and houses of prayer. Israel said the establishments were hit by missiles as they were being used as bases for military operations by Hamas militants against the former.

As per the WSJ, only eight out of 36 hospitals in Gaza can now admit patients and the basic facilities like water, electricity and communications have been cut off. "The word 'Gaza' is going to go down in history along with Dresden and other famous cities that have been bombed," Robert Pape, a political scientist at the University of Chicago who has written about the history of aerial bombing, told WSJ.

The IDF has been carrying out a fervid military operation in Palestine. The ground troops located and eliminated a terrorist cell in Shejaiya. Troops, in coordination with an aircraft, eliminated dozens of terrorists in Gaza City. Additionally, battles took place where further terrorists were eliminated.

In Beit Lahia, two Hamas military compounds were dismantled. Troops located numerous weapons, explosive devices, guns, military equipment and communication devices in the compounds before the strike.

Most of the area had been turned into rubble amid Israel’s conviction to dismantle Hamas. As per the Palestinian health ministry, more than 20,000 people have been killed so far.
