A 20-year-old Azerbaijani woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Pakistan''s Lahore after being taken to a flat in the Defence Housing Authority area, police said on Sunday.
Police have registered a case against the three suspects and identified the main accused, while raids are underway to arrest them.
Police officer Anjum Bashir said the woman had arrived in Pakistan from Baku more than two weeks ago for business purposes and was staying in Lahore''s Raiwind area.
According to police, two women took her to a cafe in the Defence Housing Authority area around 11 pm on September 25, where three men later joined them.
The men subsequently offered to drop the women in their vehicle but allegedly took the victim to a flat, where they gave her an intoxicating substance and sexually assaulted her, police said.
She was later abandoned near Lahore''s Ghazi Interchange, and her iPhone was allegedly taken away by the suspects. Bashir said the vehicle allegedly used in the crime had been recovered from the house of a relative of the main suspect.
Police are also investigating the role of the two women who allegedly took the victim to the cafe. The three male suspects have also been placed on the stop list to prevent them from leaving the country, police said.
The woman has undergone a medical examination, while a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code.
