Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recalled the 2024 pager attack on Hezbollah during his UN General Assembly speech on Thursday. Holding up a pager, Netanyahu referred to the deadly explosions that targeted Hezbollah’s communication devices in Lebanon and Syria, killing 12. He also spoke about Israel’s military campaign against Iran-backed groups in the region.

Netanyahu's 'Remember Beepers?' Moment

While discussing Israel’s military operations, Netanyahu held up a pager and directly reminded Hezbollah of the deadly explosions. He said, “Remember the beepers? Remember these things? Remember them? Well, I can tell you this: Hezbollah certainly remembers them.” The pager reference was to the September 17 and 18, 2024 attacks, when thousands of pagers and hundreds of walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah exploded in separate waves across Lebanon and Syria. Those attacks were widely attributed to Israel.

'Hezbollah Leadership Was Hit': Netanyahu

Netanyahu further spoke about the impact of Israel’s military campaign on Hezbollah and its leadership. He said, “Hezbollah’s leaders, dead. Their spirit, broken. The arch terrorists, the worst mass murderers on earth, not only killing Israelis, but killing Americans, killing Brits, killing citizens of hundreds, dozens of countries... They’re all gone too.”

The Israeli Prime Minister also described Israel as fighting a “seven-front war” involving Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, Iran, militias in Iraq, militias in Syria and Palestinian terrorists in the West Bank. He said, “For the past three years, our heroic soldiers have fought day in and day out in a seven-front war. Do you know any other country the size of New Jersey, capable of fighting a seven-front war?”

He added, “Seven fronts, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, Iran, militias in Iraq, militias in Syria, Palestinian terrorists in Judea and Samaria; they all ganged up on us to wipe us off the face of the earth. They failed. Because instead of collapsing, we delivered crippling blows to all of them.”

Starlink Receiver For Iran

During the speech, Netanyahu also displayed a Starlink satellite internet receiver and said he would leave it for the Iranian delegation so they could communicate freely online. “So when they inevitably defect, they too will be able to freely tell their story on social media,” he said.
