FBI Director Kash Patel has been facing intense trolling on social media platforms after multiple videos showed him appearing confused during the chaotic moments at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington. At the time, top leadership and nearly 2,600 guests were facing a hostile situation.

A video purportedly showing Patel appeared to be sitting calmly during the aftermath. Later, another video also triggered a heated debate online when Patel was “casually seen booking an Uber cab after a deadly shooting".

Although the exact details of the moment are yet to be made public by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Erica Knight, a communications strategist, came to the defence of Patel. She claimed the FBI chief was actively making urgent calls to his command centre and Washington Field Office, coordinating to get agents on scene immediately.

“Cell service inside the event space was terrible, something nearly every attendee has confirmed. He then located Erika Kirk, brought her to safety, and ensured she was escorted out securely. Real leadership under fire. The critics have zero clue what actually happened,” she wrote in a X post.

An official response is yet to come. Earlier on Saturday (local time), while addressing a press conference following the shooting incident, the FBI Director said that witness interviews are being conducted after a shooter was apprehended outside of the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Patel also said they are seeking anyone who may have information.

Will Kash Patel be fired? 

This came at a time when Patel reportedly could be the next senior official to exit Trump's cabinet in recent times, according to a Politico report. As per Politico, questions have emerged within White House circles regarding Patel's future amid growing internal concerns.

Speculations intensified this week over which senior Trump administration official could be the next to depart following the removal of the US Navy Secretary, a move made with Donald Trump's approval.

According to Politico, a senior White House official has suggested that Patel may be next in line for a potential ouster. "It's only a matter of time," the official, who was granted anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, said regarding the FBI director, as quoted by Politico.
