US Motel Fire: Gujarati Family Locks Themselves In Bathroom To Escape Blaze, All Die Of Suffocation

US Motel Fire: A tragic fire at a motel in the United States has claimed the lives of three members of a Gujarati family from Kheda district. The family, who had moved to the US just two years ago in search of a better future, was completely wiped out in the blaze.

Gujarati Family Of 3 Killed In Fire

According to reports, the fire broke out at the Econo Lodge motel in Wooster, Ohio, where the family was staying and working. The incident occurred around 1:30 am local time on Thursday when the fire suddenly spread through the building. The victims have been identified as Hitesh Suthar, his wife Hinaben, and their 20-year-old son Ishani, originally from Nadiad in Gujarat’s Kheda district.

Had Locked Themselves In Bathroom 

As the fire spread, the family reportedly called the motel front desk for help. They were advised to go into the bathroom and turn on the water for safety. The family then locked themselves inside the bathroom, trying to protect themselves from smoke and fire. However, due to heavy smoke and delayed control of the fire, all three died from suspected suffocation before help could reach them.

Briefing about the incident, fire officials stated that upon their arrival they saw thick smoke coming from the roof and had to carry out multiple rescue attempts. They tried several times to reach trapped occupants but were unable to save them. Officials confirmed that no other guests were killed. However, one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

According to the Gujarati Jagran report, the news has left their family and friends deeply shocked and saddened in Nadiad. Relatives are finding it hard to believe that a family who had settled abroad lost their lives so suddenly and tragically. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire, but the incident has left the local community in grief.
