Luxury Cars Scam: Rolls-Royce, Hummer EV, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Cadillac Escalade were among the cars linked to a Rs 100 crore scam in Hyderabad. On Friday, Basharat Khan, the owner of the luxury car showroom, ‘Car Lounge’, was arrested in Gujarat for his alleged involvement in the scam. Here we are providing you with the details of the scam along with the features, engine details, and prices of the luxury cars involved.
Luxury Cars And A Rs 100 Crore Scam
According to NDTV, Basharat Khan used to undervalue the luxury cars, by as much as up to 50 per cent of their actual value, and import them in India from countries like the United States and Japan by rerouting them through Dubai and Sri Lanka, where they were changed to a right-hand drive vehicle to suit the Indian Driving Conditions. As per the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Basharat used undervalued invoices and fake documents to escape High Import duties.

Rolls-Royce

Hummer EV
The Hummer EV got quite popular on social media thanks to its ‘crab walk’ feature, highly muscular design, a high stance, and a claimed range of more than 500 kilometres. It also gets super cruise mode, launch control, around 15000 Nm of torque, and 800+ hp. The roof can be removed, it gets underbody cameras, and the air suspension can lift it by 6 inches, making it one of the most capable off-road vehicles.

Toyota Land Cruiser
Toyota is known for its reliability and durability all around the world. The Land Cruiser models are no different, and they offer additional luxury and comfort features along with a powerful yet reliable engine. Toyota Land Cruiser’s boxy yet classy and muscular design gives it a completely different road presence.
