Bihar Elections: In a major blow to the Opposition camp ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the nomination of RJD candidate Shweta Suman from the Kaimur Mohaniya seat was cancelled on Wednesday. The Election Commission rejected her nomination papers due to incorrect personal details.
There were discrepancies in the address mentioned by the RJD candidate. In the Bihar elections 2020, she had stated her native place as Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh, but in the 2025 elections, she mentioned her residence in Bihar.

The poll body's action followed by a complaint filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the discrepancies in her residential address.
Third Blow To Mahagathbandhan
Ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly elections, the Mahagathbandhan incurred a third blow as the poll panel rejected another nomination filed by the Opposition candidates.
Earlier, the poll body rejected the nomination of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) candidate Shashi Bhushan Singh due to a technical reason. Singh, the sitting RJD MLA from Sugauli, had filed his papers to contest this election as a candidate of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). With his ouster from the race in the Sugauli seat in East Champaran, the constituency now turned into a potential walkover for the NDA. According to the EC, Singh did not bring 10 proposers as required. Since he changed the party symbol, he was required to have 10 proposers instead of one, as per the last election he fought. The VIP is not a registered regional party that is why he needed more than one proposer.
RJD Rebel's Nomination Rejected
RJD rebel Om Prakash Sahni's nomination was also rejected in the Sugauli seat, adding to the alliance’s woes. Sahni was contesting independently. According to the poll body, his papers contained several incomplete sections.
