Automobile sales in August: Indian 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto reported a 16% increase in sales in August while Mahindra and Mahindra said that its wholesale sales surged 9% on a year-on-year basis. Both companies have reported a surge in exports as well.
Bajaj Auto Sales In August
Bajaj Auto announced a 16% year-on-year increase in complete vehicle wholesale sales, which included exports of 3,97,804 units in August. According to a statement from the firm, the Pune-based automaker sold 341,648 vehicles in August 2023.
Total domestic sales (including commercial vehicles) climbed 24% to 2,53,827 units in the previous month, up from 2,05,100 units in the same month last year. The statement said total exports increased by 5% to 1,43,977 units during the month under review, compared to 1,36,548 vehicles shipped to overseas markets in August 2023.

Mahindra and Mahindra Sales
Mahindra & Mahindra declared that its wholesale sales in August increased by 9% year-on-year to 76,755 units. In August 2023, the company’s overall dispatch volume to dealers was 70,350 units.
Domestic market sales of passenger vehicles climbed by 16% to 43,277 units last month, up from 37,270 units in August of last year.
The company’s overall exports increased by 26% last month to 3,060 units from 2,423 units in the year-ago period. M&M stated that its total tractor sales last month were 21,917 units, up 1% from 21,676 units in the year-ago period.
