NSE, BSE Diwali Trading Muhurat 2025: India’s leading stock exchanges, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will conduct a special Muhurat trading session on Tuesday, October 21, to mark the festival of Diwali. Both exchanges issued circulars on Monday confirming the schedule.
NSE and BSE Diwali Muhurat: Trading Window And Timings
The Muhurat trading session will be held from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM, with a pre-opening session scheduled between 1:30 PM and 1:45 PM. Last year, the special session was held in the evening from 6 PM to 7 PM, but this year’s window has been moved to an earlier slot. Regular trading will remain closed for the holiday.
The Muhurat trading marks the start of the new Hindu calendar year, Vikram Samvat 2082. Investors traditionally consider the session auspicious, believing that transactions made during this time bring prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead. Market analysts note that families and traders often participate to mark the symbolic beginning of new investments, rather than to seek immediate gains.
Segments Open For Trading
According to the circulars, trading will be available across all major segments, including equities, equity futures and options, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB).
Volatility Expected
Analysts cautioned that since the session lasts only an hour, trading activity can be highly volatile. Despite this, participation is expected to remain strong as investors view the occasion as a blend of tradition and finance.
