Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty climbed higher on Friday to hit fresh lifetime closing peaks on the back of strong trends in global markets and renewed foreign fund inflows. Index heavyweights Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, and Infosys also bolstered the equity rally.
Rising for the ninth straight session, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 231.16 points or 0.28 percent to close at an all-time high of 82,365.77. Intra-day, it jumped 502.42 points or 0.61 percent to an intra-day record of 82,637.03.
The NSE Nifty rose 83.95 points or 0.33 percent to hit a new closing high of 25,235.90 and extended its winning run to the 12th straight session. Intra-day, it rose 116.4 points or 0.46 percent to a new record of 25,268.35.

Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, Power Grid, Bajaj Finserv, Bharti Airtel, and Tata Consultancy Services were the biggest gainers among the 30 Sensex constituents. On the other hand, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra, and ITC were among the laggards. In the Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong settled with gains.
European markets traded in positive territory. U.S. markets ended on a mixed note on Thursday. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 3,259.56 crore on Thursday.
Domestic institutional investors purchased equities worth Rs 2,690.85 crore. Brent crude, the global benchmark, rose 0.08 percent to USD 80 a barrel.
The BSE benchmark on Thursday jumped 349.05 points or 0.43 percent to settle at an all-time high of 82,134.61, extending its winning streak for the eighth consecutive session. Rallying for the 11th straight session, the Nifty rose 99.60 points or 0.40 percent to hit a new closing high of 25,151.95.
