IND vs WI: India will lock horns with West Indies for a two-match Test series, and the BCCI had announced the 15-member team for the same on Thursday, where star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be playing as the vice-captain in Rishabh Pant's absence. Pant, who was snubbed from India's squad owing to a toe injury, which he suffered in the Test series against England, has pulled out from the Windies series, but Agarkar is hopeful that he will recover well in time for the Test series against South Africa.

“Rishabh Pant is the vice-captain at the moment and a key player. But unfortunately, he hasn’t quite recovered to make this Test series," Agarkar told reporters during the press conference.

“We are hopeful that by the time South Africa comes, he will be 100 per cent fit. There is no exact timeline on his return as yet, but I know he’s not going to make these two Test matches against West Indies, but after that, he’s very close to getting fit," he added.

Jadeja, who has been in sublime form in this format for a long time and has made significant contributions both at home and away in Test matches over the last 10 years, will aim to bring his vast experience to the team.

“Jaddu has been one of the top performers with a lot of experience. So that’s essentially the reason," he concluded.

The first Test match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad next week, whereas the second Test match will be played in New Delhi.
