Ashes 2025: The host got a huge blow on the last day of the ongoing Test in Adelaide as star spinner Nathan Lyon was seen leaving the field as what looked like a hamstring injury and now his participation for the rest of the series remain uncertain.
The incident occurred a few minutes before lunch on the fifth day as the host tried to take the wickets of the visitors quickly as they are on the verge of winning this series. Lyon was standing at fine leg as he dove to stop a ball from going for a four and he successfully did that but injured his right hamsting. He was seen limping after that.
Talking about this injury, Cricket Australia revealed that Lyon is currently being monitored.

“Nathan Lyon is being assessed by medical staff,” the statement released by Cricket Australia said.
“More information will be forthcoming once fully known” it added.

This injury is a huge blow to Australia. Lyon returned to the side after being snubbed from the second Test and registered figures of 3/77 and played a huge role in helping the team pile pressure.
If his injury is serious then his participation for the rest of the series will be doubtful. He will then be replaced by players like Corey Rocchiccioli, Matt Kuhnemann or Todd Murphy.
This injury reminded everyone of the 2023 Ashes series where Lyon sustained a calf injury and didn't play in the rest of the series after that. Australia did win that match.
Speaking of the third Test Will Jacks and Jamie Smith gave the host a hard time while chasing a mammoth target of 435 and made the bowlers toil hard on the last day. The host started the day with 4 wickets away from win as the second new ball loomed.
The host will try to win this match but Lyon's injury is a huge blow for them for the rest of the series as he will be closely monitored for the next few days.
