IND vs AUS: The hosts have been dealt a huge blow before the ODI series against India as star all-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out owing to an injury. Marnus Labuschagne will be replacing Green, whose absence will also affect their preparations for the Ashes Test series.

Green, who made a comeback to competitive cricket just recently, after giving the T20I series against New Zealand a miss, has pulled out. Labuschagne, who has smashed his fourth ton in domestic cricket in their Sheffield Shield match against South Australia, will be flying to Perth before the series opener.

Green did play in Western Australia's first shield match, where he had bowled 4 overs and also took a wicket, as the medical staff of Cricket Australia told him not to bowl continuously. And since he didn't bat for long in the first innings, he was given a full day's rest.

Since Green was not going to bowl during the first two matches, he was trying to manage his workload by trying to bowl more overs in the third round of the shield, which will be held later this month. He was also supposed to give the third ODI and the T20I series a miss as he was going to play in the third and fourth rounds of the Shield to gear up for the Ashes.

A Cricket Australia official was heard as saying, "Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes."

Green's injury is a huge blow to the host since the first Ashes Test match against England is just weeks away. There's no clarity about Pat Cummins' availability for the first Test match as he is recovering from a lumbar back injury, whereas fast bowler Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett are also injured. Jhye Richardson hasn't returned to competitive cricket post his shoulder injury, but was seen bowling at full tilt in their first practice session in Perth.
