India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2025: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan was not surprised by the controversial actions of Pakistan's Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours clash between the arch-rivals in Dubai on Sunday.
Pathan came up with his honest take, saying that actions reflected their nature and upbringing. Notably, India defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets to extend their dominance over the Men in Green. This was India's fourth successive win in the ongoing continental tournament as they got the better of Pakistan for the second time.

While India continued their incredible form, their sensational performance was overshadowed by Pakistan's provocative gestures amid the ongoing handshake row. In the first innings, Farhan hit the ball for a six to reach his fifty and celebrated with a gun-shot gesture, which many found insensitive given the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were killed on April 22.

On the other hand, Rauf responded to chants of "Virat Kohli" from Indian spectators with a "0-6" gesture.
"I want to talk about the celebrations a little bit. Sahibzada Farhan, you know the tensions between the two sides. Haris Rauf, for that matter, I thought that he was a decent person. I met him in Australia a few years back. The gestures he made in the field yesterday were needless. It tells about both of their nature and what upbringing they come from," Irfan Pathan was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
"Play cricket in the field. To stoop down to a personal level is quite bad. And then you expect us not to talk about it, that is wrong. But I am not surprised at all. They are capable of doing these things. What you got to see on TV, that was bad itself, but the things that go on behind the scenes, the fans would be shocked if they got to know about it," he added.
During the match, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi were having a go at Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill during the run chase. However, Abhishek not only smashed the Pakistani bowlers all around the park but also gave it back to Rauf with verbal volleys and ended up hitting a match-winning fifty. He played a memorable knock of 74 runs in 39 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes.
