IND vs SA 2nd ODI: Ex-India skipper Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of achieving the milestone of entering the 2000-run mark in all formats. He is just 41 runs away from achieving this feat and will become 4th Indian batter to do so.
This list currently has players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rahul Dravid, three of the best players of this sport. Tendulkar is leading this list as he has scored 34,357 runs, whereas Kohli has scored 27808 runs, and Dravid has scored 24,064 runs. Rohit, who has scored 19,959 runs after playing in 503 matches and at an average of 42.46, is on the verge of joining an elite list.
These figures show his ability to adapt in all formats. He has hit 50 hundreds and 110 fifties, and that highlights his consistency. He has scored 4301 runs in the longest format, 4231 runs in T20Is, and 11427 runs in the 50-over format, and that shows his huge role in helping the team maintain its dominance over the last few years. He might have retired from the shortest format after leading the team to the 2024 T20 World Cup glory, and then retired from Test cricket, and now plays in just ODIs.
He had a dream run in this format last year. He had scored 561 runs after playing in just 12 matches at a staggering average of 51 and a strike rate of more than 99, which also includes two tons and one fifty. His unbeaten knock of 121 runs is his highest individual score. His sublime form was seen in the ODI series against Australia, where he had hit both a half-century and a ton. He also had hit a fifty in the series opener against South Africa, as he had scored 57 runs off 51 balls.
In that knock, he also made a world record by smashing his 352nd six and also broke Shahid Afridi's record. This milestone is more important than the way he achieved it. Afridi has done so after playing in 369 matches, whereas Rohit did so in 269 matches, and that shows his brilliant power-hitting skills.

He can also achieve the milestone of scoring 20,000 runs in the second match, which will be held in Raipur. Since he is in sublime form and this milestone is within reach, all eyes will be on Rohit, who will try to become one of the greatest run-scorers.
