India's Qualification Scenario For T20 WC Semifinal: After taking a significant hit in their net run-rate after their loss against South Africa, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side is in dire straits after Zimbabwe's staggering 107-run loss against two-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies on Monday. Notably, India’s net run rate stands at -3.800 as they occupy the third spot, while Zimbabwe’s are on fourth place with a net run-rate of -5.350.

Another defeat for India in the Super Eight stage will end their campaign effectively. India are set to play against a motivated Sikandar Raza-led side in Chennai on Thursday (February 26). Also, if the West Indies manage to win against South Africa earlier in the day, then India's final match in the Super Eights will be inconsequential.

T20 World Cup Semifinal Scenarios Explained:

South Africa and West Indies are both sitting on two points, and if the Shai Hope-led side triumphs over the Proteas, they will end up accumulating four points. If India loses to Zimbabwe, they will be unable to reach that total. In this situation, West Indies would have four points from two matches, while both South Africa and Zimbabwe would have two points each.

Since South Africa and Zimbabwe are set to face off in their third Super 8 match on Sunday (March 1), one of them would end up with four points (or three each in the event of a washout). India would not be able to match that figure.

For India to secure a spot, winning both of their remaining matches is not enough. They will need to achieve these victories by significant margins to improve their net run-rate. Additionally, if South Africa wins their remaining two matches and India also defeats West Indies and Zimbabwe, the defending champions will move forward.
