IPL 2026 Auction: The IPL could witness the execution of one of the craziest transfer deals in recent times as talks continue between the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals, where two of the three players involved are all but certain.

RR and CSK restarted the negotiations over the potential move for Sanju Samson, and the five-time champions offered two players in exchange, with Ravindra Jadeja being one of them. The other player has been revealed to be England all-rounder Sam Curran.

As per a report in the Indian Express, the inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals, aren't quite satisfied with this part of the deal, hinting at another complication in the Samson transfer saga ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Samson's potential move to CSK has been a major talking point over the last few months as the Men in Yellow aim to bag the services of the next big wicket-keeping option amid the speculations regarding legendary captain MS Dhoni's future.

Samson reportedly met with the Chennai management on the sidelines of the Major League Season in the US earlier this year. The former RR skipper made it clear to the franchise that he would want to end their seven-year association ahead of the mini-auction in December, the Royals immediately knocked on CSK's door. However, the deal collapsed instantly after Chennai agreed not to release any of their player in exchange.

Over the last few days, the two franchises reignited the talks, with CSK ready to offer two players in exchange for Samson.

Ignoring the option of Sam Curran, RR have set their eyes on Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana, and Chennai are not willing to let go of him, given that the player is expected to take over a bigger role at the franchise in the years to come.

In an interesting turn of events, Jadeja is all set and ready to end his long and memorable stay at CSK. Before agreeing to the deal on the all-rounder, the former captain MS Dhoni, incumbent leader Ruturaj Gaikwad, and head coach Stephen Fleming reportedly had lengthy discussions with Jadeja. "Dhoni was involved in the discussions with Jadeja to gauge his interest, and only after the all-rounder too agreed on a move to Rajasthan that further talks took shape," the report mentioned.
