Pakistan Win Hong Kong Sixes 2025: Pakistan clinched the Hong Kong Sixes for the record sixth time as they defeated Kuwait by 43 runs in the final at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Sunday. After their defeat against arch-rivals India in the group stages, Pakistan produced a dominating performance throughout the competition.

Following the title victory for Pakistan, the players’ celebrations caught the eye of many fans, in particular the manner in which Muhammad Shahzad celebrated, and the picture he opted to post on social media. The fast-bowling all-rounder Shahzad recreated the famous picture of Hardik Pandya following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup in Barbados last year, with the trophy on the pitch in front of him, while the player shrugs his shoulders.

The Pakistani team rode on captain Abbas Afridi’s 52-run knock from 11 balls to post a total of 135/3 in six overs and then successfully defended the 136-run target by bowling Kuwait out for 92 runs in 5.1 overs.

Shahzad had a memorable outing in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 as he was Pakistan's leading wicket-taker in the competition with seven wickets under his belt. Whether the celebration was a tribute to Hardik Pandya or whether it was a dig at the Indian team and the senior all-rounder, considering the recent past few months between the two countries, only the 21-year-old himself will know the answer to that question. The IND vs PAK matches witnessed multiple controversies in the Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Blue defeated Pakistan thrice in the tournament, including in the final, and ended up lifting their record ninth Asia Cup title.

Notably, Pandya displayed this celebration for the first time after taking the wicket of Shadab Khan during India’s tight win over their arch-rivals during last year’s T20 World Cup. It became an iconic image after India ended their ICC trophy drought later that tournament. Pandya repeated that celebration after India lifted the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title in the UAE as well.

Talking about Shahzad, he has represented Pakistan at the U-19 level, but is yet to play for the senior side. He came up with a memorable effort in the President’s Cup final this year while representing Pakistan TV, as he took a five-fer, including a hat-trick and followed that up with an unbeaten century the following innings.

Before lifting the Hong Kong Sixes title, Pakistan faced a tough challenge against Australia in the semifinal, but got over the line on the back of Abbas Afridi’s magnificent effort before the bowlers wrapped things up in style.
