JE Sports Desk:  Indian team has reached Dominica for the first of the two-match Test series against the West Indies that will start on Wednesday, July 12. The Test series against West Indies also kicks off Men in Blue's campaign in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.

Rohit Sharma and Co reached the Caribbean shores a week ago and were training in Barbados. India played a two-day intra-squad training match before heading into the journey to Dominica for the first encounter of the all-format tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a few images of cricketers from the airport on their way to Dominica and captioned it:

"When we went Jet, Set & Go to Dominica ✈️ #TeamIndia 🇮🇳 | #WIvIND."

The two-match series is the first assignment for the Indian team after the disappointing loss against Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in London last month.

The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who got their maiden call to the Test side, will have a golden chance to shine if an opportunity comes their way.

Earlier, in a video posted by BCCI,  Indian players were seen showing kind gestures towards the fans and the local players after wrapping up the training in Barbados. Men in Blue signed multiple autographs and posed for selfies with the fans and even gave words of wisdom to the local players who helped them train before the series gets underway.

West Indies, on the other hand, have named uncapped Kirk McKenzie and Alick Athanaze in their 13-member squad for the first Test. Rahkeem Cornwall and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican have returned to the national team after a long gap.
