Pakistan Cricket News: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has pushed back the deadline for investors to submit bids for the two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises, extending it by another two days to December 24.

The PCB hasn't made an official announcement, but the reports in the media suggest the revised timeline, citing the new deadline for initial bids.

"The last date for submitting initial bids is now extended by two days,” a source told PTI.

This marks the second extension by the PCB. At the PSL roadshow in New York last week, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had informed that the deadline had been pushed from December 15 to December 22.

The Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to extend the deadline for technical bids suggests they're not completely pleased with the grade of proposals received so far. With the final auction looming on January 6, the board is probably looking to attract more powerful competitors for the two new PSL franchises.

Only bidders shortlisted after the initial technical scrutiny will be qualified to participate in the final auction. There have also been reports on social media that the PCB led roadshows in London and New York in an endeavour to draw stronger bids from foreign investors rather than domestic groups.

The PCB remains unclear about the future of the Multan Sultans franchise, following Ali Tareen's judgment to renounce ownership due to a conflict with the board. The PCB is expected to take over the franchise temporarily.

Though not officially approved, the source said the PCB is contemplating running the Multan Sultans itself for the forthcoming season, before re-bidding the franchise rights ahead of the league's 12th edition for a nine-year cycle.
