New Zealand vs West Indies 3rd Test Updates: Devon Conway etched his name in the history books on the back of a memorable effort with the bat during the ongoing third and final Test between New Zealand and the West Indies at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
Conway has become the first player from New Zealand and overall, only the 10th man in history to hit a double hundred and a century in the same Test. His effort has given the Blackcaps a huge upper hand to complete the series victory. In the first innings, Conway played a brilliant knock of 227 in 367 balls with the help of 31 boundaries, playing a crucial role in taking NZ to 575/8 before the hosts declared.

Now, during the second innings, he scored an attacking 139-ball 100, with eight fours and three sixes at a strike rate of almost 72. Only Doug Walters, Greg Chappell, Marnus Labuschagne, Sunil Gavaskar, Shubman Gill, Lawrence Rowe, Brian Lara, Graham Gooch and Kumar Sangakkara had achieved the feat before Conway.
Conway had a disappointing past couple of years, but has been in impressive form in Test cricket season this year, with 697 runs in five matches and nine innings at an average of 87.12, a strike rate of 61.30, including three centuries and two fifties, with a best score of 227. Notably, Conway's aggregate of 327 in the ongoing match is the third-highest in a single red-ball game for the Kiwis. Only Stephen Fleming (343) and Martin Crowe (329) are ahead of him.

Talking about the third Test, the hosts declared their second innings as well for 306/2 to set the West Indies a massive target. Apart from Conway, skipper Tom Latham also smashed an amazing century with the help of nine fours and two sixes. Kane Williamson remained unbeaten on 40, whereas Rachin Ravindra scored 46 runs.
West Indies reached 43/0 at the end of the day's play with John Campbell (2) and Brandon King (37) at the crease. The visitors need 419 more runs to win the final Test and level the three-match series.
