India A vs Australia A: Star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to take part in the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A, scheduled to take place on September 23 (Tuesday) in Lucknow. As per a report, Iyer, who is also the captain of the side, has returned to Mumbai with Dhruv Jurel been named the skipper in his absence.

The report in Cricbuzz stated that Iyer has informed the BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India) about his decision. The report added that Iyer cited personal reasons for his absence. The absence will cast doubts on his selection for India's two-match Test series with West Indies at home.

The report further stated that star cricketers KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj have reached Lucknow for the 2nd Unofficial Test. Both of them were named in the India A squad for the second fixture.

Notably, the first unofficial test ended in a draw.

The first match ended in a draw after rain washed out the final day's play. In the first match, Dhruv Jurel along with Devdutt Padikkal scored a well-crafted century that highlighted his comeback to the red-ball scene.

The century by Devdutt Padikkal has put him back on the radar of selectors who are looking to consider him above Karun Nair, another report stated.
