UP Warriorz Retained Players, WPL 2026 Auction: With an aim to produce an improved performance in the WPL 2026, UP Warriorz have made some big decisions regarding their retentions ahead of the mega auction. They announced their retention list on Thursday. They retained only one uncapped Indian batter, Shweta Sehrawat. The 21-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi has played a total of 23 matches in the WPL for UP Warriorz and scored 261 runs in 20 innings.
In an interesting turn of events, UP Warriorz have released the legendary Australian captain Alyssa Healy, England spinner Sophie Ecclestone and Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu.
After finishing third in the inaugural WPL season in 2023, UPW were placed fourth and last in the 2024 and 2025 editions, respectively. India's senior all-rounder Deepti Sharma is also set to be in the auction after getting released by UP Warriorz.

Deepti recently lifted the historic Women's World Cup title with the Indian team. She played a crucial role in India's maiden title success and was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament for the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. Notably, UPW have also chosen to release the likes of Grace Harris, Georgia Voll, Alyssa Healy, Uma Chetry, Kiran Navigre, amongst others.

The franchise now also holds a significant strategic advantage, having four Right to Match (RTM) cards under its belt, which it can use on up to two Indian and two overseas players. This gives them a realistic opportunity to buy back some of their former stars if the bidding allows.
After a disappointing campaign last season, the team management seems to make it count in the next edition under new head coach Abhishek Nayar. The upcoming auction on November 27 in Delhi will be crucial for the franchise as it looks to rebuild from scratch.
