WTC Points Table 2025-27: Pakistan came up with a dominating performance to beat South Africa by 93 runs in the first Test at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday. The hosts wrapped things up well inside four days to go 1-0 up in the two-match series.

The ongoing series is their first assignment in the new World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, and they already have a win under their belt. They bowled South Africa out for 183 runs in their second innings to get over the line, with Noman Ali and Shaheen Afridi taking four wickets each, whereas Sajid Khan found a couple of scalps as well.

While chasing the 277-run target, Dewald Brevis was the only player to hit a fifty for the Proteas, whereas Ryan Rickelton came up with a contribution of 45 runs.

Having been in the bottom half of the WTC points table in the previous three cycles, Pakistan have the massive opportunity to turn it around this time. They have favourable home and away assignments heading forward and already are off to a commendable start. The Shan Masood-led side earned 12 points from the victory in Lahore and have a points percentage (PCT) of 100, equal to that of the two-time finalists Australia, who won their only assignment against the West Indies on the road, 3-0.

Pakistan's upsurge meant that Sri Lanka, who were in the second place until Tuesday when India beat the West Indies 2-0, slipped to third place. On the other hand, the Shubman Gill and Co. found itself in the fourth.

South Africa, who are the defending WTC champions, are placed seventh in the standings with no points. Australia leads the table with three wins in three matches. India stands 4th with a 61.90 points percentage. South Africa have a tougher tour of India pending next month. However, their 2nd Test against Pakistan in the ongoing series is scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi from October 20 to 24.
