A government school teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district was suspended after being found playing Candy Crush Saga for over an hour during work hours. The District Magistrate (DM) found that the teacher played Candy Crush Saga for 1 hour and 17 minutes, talked on the phone for 26 minutes, and used Facebook for 17 minutes, along with other apps like Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp during work hours. The DM suspended the teacher and shared a picture of the teacher's screen time throughout the week on an official notice.
The incident came to light when District Magistrate Rajendra Pansiya conducted a random check at the school and found numerous mistakes in students' copies, from the first page to the last.
Later, a feature on the teacher's phone that tracks application usage revealed that he spent nearly two hours playing Candy Crush during school hours.
"Teachers should focus on checking the classwork and homework of students, and ensure that they get quality education. Also, using mobile phones is not a problem, but using them for personal reasons during school hours is not right," the District Magistrate said, as reported by news agency IANS.
Pansiya reviewed six pages from six students' copies and found 95 mistakes, with nine errors on the first page alone. Expressing his displeasure, he then checked assistant teacher Priyam Goyal's phone.

The District Magistrate informed the state education department of the matter, and they took cognisance of it and suspended the assistant teacher.
