Ahead of the second and last phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh on November 17, Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that if BJP comes to power in the state, Naxalism will be eliminated in the next five years. Shah also said that rampant ‘religious conversion’ took place in the poll-bound state under the Congress rule.
Shah addressed three rallies one each in Jashpur and Kunkuri constituencies in Jashpur district and Chandrapur constituency in Sakti district of the state ahead of the second phase of voting.
The home minister promised that Naxalism would be eradicated from the state in five years and appealed to the people to elect a double-engine government (BJP in Chhattisgarh and at the centre). He added that the rule of corruption prevailed in the state under the Bhupesh Baghel-led government as they indulged in several scams worth thousands of crores of rupees.
Hitting out at the Bhupesh Baghel-led government, Shah also said that while India’s moon mission Chandrayaan-3 was sent to the moon under the central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the point where it landed was named Shivshakti', the Congress government in the state indulged in betting in the name of Mahadev'.
“Under the Modi-led government at the Centre, Chandrayaan was sent to the moon and Modi ji named the point as Shivshakti, expressing reverence to Lord Shiva. But the Congress government in Chhattisgarh, opened a betting app in the name of Mahadev. They should be ashamed as they should have spared at least the name of Mahadev,” Shah was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
