Bad Cop Teaser: Anurag Kashyap and Gulshan Devaiah are set to star in the upcoming crime thriller series Bad Cop, directed by Aditya Datt and streaming soon on Disney+ Hotstar. The series promises intense drama and captivating performances, with Kashyap playing a menacing gangster and Devaiah portraying a complex cop.
On Thursday, Anurag Kashyap shared a cryptic Instagram post about his decision to take on more acting roles, claiming that filmmaking wasn't taking him anywhere. This announcement coincided with the release of the trailer for Maharaja, a revenge saga featuring Kashyap alongside Vijay Sethupathi. In Maharaja, Kashyap also plays a grey character, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
The teaser for Bad Cop, released by Disney+ Hotstar on Friday, features Kashyap in a sinister avatar, complete with a gun, a cigarette, and an evil expression. His character exudes menace, a stark contrast to his usual behind-the-camera role. Gulshan Devaiah, known for his roles in Dahaad and Duranga, returns as a cop named Karan. However, Karan's character has a twist—he possesses a split personality, with his darker side named Arjun, reminiscent of the iconic 1995 film Karan Arjun starring Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
Kashyap and Devaiah share a long history, as Devaiah made his debut in Kashyap's 2010 film The Girl In Yellow Boots, which also starred Kashyap's former wife, Kalki Koechlin. Koechlin played a pivotal role in introducing Devaiah to the industry.
Bad Cop isn't Kashyap's first foray into playing antagonistic roles. He previously portrayed villains in the 2016 action thriller Akira alongside Sonakshi Sinha, the 2018 Tamil action thriller Imaikka Nodigal with Nayanthara and the ZEE5 crime drama Haddi, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, last year. His performance in these roles has been well-received, showcasing his range as an actor.
Directed by Aditya Datt, who previously worked with Devaiah in the 2019 action film Commando 3, Bad Cop also stars Harleen Sethi. Sethi was last seen in the Netflix India thriller Kohrra. The series promises to be a gripping crime drama with strong performances and a compelling storyline.
In addition to Bad Cop, Gulshan Devaiah is set to appear in the film Ulajh. Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap is gearing up for the release of his directorial venture Kennedy, starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat. The exact release date for Bad Cop will be announced with its full trailer soon.
