Anupam Mittal, a judge on 'Shark Tank India', recently shared his perspective on the Cannes Film Festival, highlighting its increased accessibility. He expressed his tha in the past, only a privileged few had the opportunity to attend Cannes. However, he observed that now it appears as though the festival has opened up to a broader audience, welcoming participation from anyone. Although Anupam did not mention anyone by name, netizens speculated that he was indirectly referencing his Shark Tank India co-judge Namita Thapar. "There was a time only the super-famous could but these days anybody Canne," he wrote. Anupam Mittal's post triggered reactions from netizens, who urged him to tag his Shark Tank India co-judge, Namita Thapar. One user commented, "Who are you taking a dig at? Another wrote, "The definition of who is considered to be famous has drastically changed, maybe that’s why!" A third comment added, "Direct @namitathapar ko tag Karo, why this ‘anybody’ ka rona."

On May 15, 2024, Namita Thapar, the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals and a judge on Shark Tank India, made a striking appearance on the Cannes red carpet. Wearing a powder blue off-shoulder ruffled gown, she captivated attention at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Namita shared images of her outfit on Instagram with the caption "Cannes 2024 :)" as she expressed her gratitude to her designer, Elio Abou Fayssal, for crafting her attire.
Recently, Namita faced online trolling after her debut at the Cannes. Some trolls even made age-shaming remarks and accused her of nepotism, claiming she didn't deserve to judge the popular reality show Shark Tank. In response, Namita posted a lengthy note delivering a strong rebuttal to the trolls. Namita wrote, "You are old, 47, dress your age You are just a nepo kid You don’t deserve a seat on shark tank as you are always saying "I am out" Please don’t post your Cannes pictures, your IPO is coming up, you won’t be taken seriously as a business leader."
She added, "Who defines who we are & how we need to behave? The biggest gift in life is when …with age, with some white hair & with guidance from precious mentors, you discover your true authentic self & celebrate self love. Yes, I will go all out in Cannes…yes, I will put up my pics on social media & oh yes, I will not be apologetic & defensive about who I am :)"
