'Gadar 2' starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel is creating heavy buzz ahead of its release on August 11. The official trailer of the film was unveiled on Wednesday and is the sequel to director Anil Sharma's 2001 blockbuster film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.'

The launch of the 'Gadar 2' trailer event was held on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas which also included Sunny Deol's grand speech. The actor passed a statement during the event reagrding the relations between India and Pakistan blaming it on the political parties of the country, followed by a series of backlash on social media.

Sunny Deol is also a BJP MP from Punjab's Gurdaspur, blaming the 'political game' for the hatred between both nations. The Twitterati called him 'diplomatic' for his statement and many claimed he made the remark so that people in Pakistan will also be interested to watch the film and asked the viewers to boycott the film because of his statement.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Sunny Deol said, "Kuch le jane ya lene-dene ki baat nahi hoti hai. Baat hoti hai insaniyat ki. Jhagde nahi hone chahiye. Dono taraf utna hi pyar hai, yeh siyasi khel hota hai jo sab nafratein paida karta hai. Aur woh hi aap dekhenge iss film mein bhi. Janta nahi koi chahti ki ek dusre ke sath hum jhagda kare."

He further said, "Aakhir hai toh sab iss hi mitti se (The essence lies in humanity, not in taking or giving. A conflict between the two sides should not prevail. There is love on both sides. It is the political blame game that creates hatred between India and Pakistan, a theme reflected in this film. Both nations comprise of people who seek peace, as we are essentially one and the same)."

This started a string of hate comments on Twitter. One Twitter user wrote, "Come out of your cave, Sunny Deol. Go and visit Pakistani." Another user said, "It seems they want to run this film in Pakistan!! It means it will be super flop in India…" One more user wrote, "Is dialogue ke saath hi picture flop ho gai. Boycott Gadar 2!"

Talking about the film, 'Gadar 2' will see Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprising their roles as Tara Singh and Sakina. This time Sunny Deol's character will enter Pakistan to save his son against all odds. The film is co-produced by Zee Studios and Anil Sharma. 'Gadar 2' will be released over two decades after the original film's release in 2001 and will witness a box office clash with Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2.'
