Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar have finally put an end to their five-year-long legal battle, reaching a peaceful settlement in their defamation lawsuits. The actress took to Instagram to share the news with her fans, posting a happy picture that reflected her satisfaction with the outcome. According to Kangana, the settlement was made possible through mediation. In fact, Akhtar has even agreed to write songs for Kangana's next directorial project, marking a new chapter in their relationship. The legal war between the two began in 2020, when Kangana claimed in an interview that Javed Akhtar had asked her to apologize to Hrithik Roshan, leading Javed Akhtar to file a defamation case against her.

Kangana took to her Instagram account and uploaded a happy picture with Javed Akhtar on her IG Story. She wrote, “Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation, in the mediation Javed ji has been very kind and gracious, he also agreed to write songs for my next directorial.”

The legal battle between Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar began in 2020 after Kangana's interview following Sushant Singh Rajput's death. In the interview, Kangana claimed Javed Akhtar asked her to apologise to Hrithik Roshan, stemming from their 2016 public spat over their alleged relationship.

Kangana had then said, “Once Javed Akhtar called me to his house and told me Rakesh Roshan (father of Hrithik Roshan) and his family are very big people. If you don't apologise to them, you will have nowhere to go. They will put you in jail, and eventually, the only path would be that of destruction… you will commit suicide. These were his words. He shouted and yelled at me. I was shaking in his house." 

Later, Javed filed a defamation case against her that raged on for years. He told the court, “Whatever Kangana said in the interview is a lie and nothing but a lie. I had told her about the agenda of the meeting on call. Didn't call her to discuss the weather, political situation or America election in 2016.”
