Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor's romantic relationship was one of the most talked-about celebrity pairings in Bollywood. The two actors met on the sets of their film Fida in 2004, but it was during the filming of the iconic movie Jab We Met in 2007 that their relationship truly blossomed. As they spent more time together, their chemistry on-screen translated into a real-life romance, captivating the hearts of their fans.
During their time together, Kareena and Shahid starred in several films, including Chup Chup Ke, 36 China Town and Milenge Milenge. Their on-screen pairing was undeniable and their off-screen relationship was the subject of much speculation and attention.
Talking about their bond, Kareena once revealed during an appearance in Koffee With Karan, “He did not even bother, for 2 months I had to chase him. I was the one who was initiating SMSs’, calls, asking him to meet..he was kind of shy and finally we met up and things started, but it was me who made the first move and accelerated the relationship.”
However, despite their strong connection, the couple ultimately parted ways in 2007. The breakup was a highly publicised event, with both actors choosing to keep their personal lives private in the aftermath.
In the years following their breakup, both Kareena and Shahid have moved on to find happiness with their respective partners. Kareena tied the knot with actor Saif Ali Khan in 2012, while Shahid married Mira Rajput in 2015. Despite their past relationship, both actors have maintained a cordial and professional relationship, often crossing paths at industry events and parties.
However, fans became nostalgic when Shahid and Kareena recently crossed paths at IIFA digital awards 2025. The Jab We Met pair were seen hugging and interacting at the event. The exchange was particularly notable given the rarity of public interactions between the two, who were once romantically involved.
When questioned about the encounter, Shahid Kapoor downplayed its significance, revealing that such meetings are actually quite common for the pair and not at all out of the ordinary. He said, “For us, it’s nothing new…aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte (today we met on stage but we keep running into each other here and there) hai but it’s totally normal for us…if people felt nice, it’s nice.”
