Genelia Deshmukh is gearing up for her return to the silver screen after three years with the highly anticipated sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par. She will be starring opposite Aamir Khan in RS Prasanna's directorial. Ahead of its release, which is slated for June 20, Genelia addressed the most frequently asked question about taking a 10-year break from acting. She revealed that stepping away was her own decision, as she found a happy place in life after marrying Riteish Deshmukh and chose to take a break from the industry.

Genelia Deshmukh sat down for a chat with Zoom to discuss her decision regarding her career in the film industry. She shared, “I took off for 10 years from acting. Most people ask me if it’s easy to step away from the limelight for 10 years and I said, It’s what I wanted to do and I wanted to be honest with what I do. So I did it. I saw a place after 10 years and I am happy in that place. I may not do 10 films, I may do three films, but my happiness is with that and that’s what matters the most."

Calling it a fantastic ride, she added, "I think that both of us (she and Riteish) being from the industry, I honestly feel it’s easier because I understand what matters. It can be very alarming for someone who’s not from the industry because we sometimes have such erratic call sheets and call times like you have to shoot some things at night. Not that I am saying it’s impossible, but I think for someone from the industry, I get it faster than maybe someone not from here. It’s been a fantastic ride, I wouldn’t have it any other way."
