Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is gearing up for the third installment of his 'Files' trilogy, following The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. The movie starring Mithun Chakraborty in the lead, was earlier titled The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter, but it has now been renamed The Bengal Files: Right to Life. This change comes in response to huge public demand and the latest teaser released by the director. Along with the new title, Agnihotri also announced the film’s release date.

Vivek Agnihotri took to his X handle and shared a title announcement poster along with a caption, that read, “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. The Delhi Files is now The Bengal Files. Teaser coming this Thursday, 12 June 2025 at 12 PM. In cinemas on 05 September 2025."

Not only did he update about the new title but also shared a major update about the teaser of the film, which is slated to release on June 12.

On Monday, Agnihotri builed the anticipation by sharing the news that something big is coming. His post on X read, “So many of you have shared your thoughts on the name… The Delhi Files or The Bengal Files? Well, I have an update. But not just yet.. stay tuned." And he finally, officially shared the news.

About The Bengal Files

The film explores the tumultuous 1940s in undivided Bengal, highlighting pivotal yet often overlooked events such as Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots. Director Vivek Agnihotri sheds light on this dark chapter of Indian history, describing the incidents as a 'Hindu genocide.' Written by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. It is being presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha Productions.

Besides Mithun Chakraborty, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi in pivotal roles.

Earlier this year, the makers unveiled a teaser for the film, giving a brief insight into the storyline and what’s in store for the audience. The video showed actor Mithun Chakraborty in an intense look, walking silently through an empty corridor while reading the Preamble to the Constitution but with a burnt tongue. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for more updates.
