Sharmin Segal has faced a lot of criticism on social media for her performance as Alamzeb in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. During the promotions of the web series, netizens noticed her arrogant behaviour towards her co-stars like Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Shaikh. Since then, she has been heavily trolled by social media users. Reacting to the same, Sharmin stated that her interviews were taken out of context. The actress also said that she has a cordial relationship with her contemporaries Aditi and Sanjeeda.
In an interview with Zoom, Sharmin said “Some of my co-stars have spoken graciously as to how these interviews were taken out of context. I share a very cordial equation with both Aditi and Sanjeeda. I wish that people would not use 10-second out-of-context clips to define the relationship I share with them.”
Earlier in a viral video, Sharmin can be seen saying “Aditi is a good school girl, please understand that. Teacher will say you have to submit your home work at this time and Aditi will do exactly that and not one more word than the word count limit. That is Aditi for you. So, according to her everyone is late and she is on time.”
Earlier in an interview with Puja Talwar, Aditi Rao Hydari extended her support to Sharmin after being heavily trolled. She said, “I know some people like something and some people don't. There is a way to say it. It can get very mean. It has gotten very mean and I think it's not fair and it shouldn't happen like that. I don't know what else to say but I do feel bad. I think we should all understand it and be there for each other.”
“I also feel people do what they think is important to them. If some people want to be mean, that is their prerogative. We have to find a way around it otherwise it will be really difficult. Whoever is facing it, I would just say, 'look at the positive,'” she added.
