Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who worked with Sushant Singh Rajput in films like Kedarnath and Kai Po Che, in a recent interview, revealed that the late actor was 'disturbed'. He also mentioned Sushant's dedication to his craft, highlighting how he persevered through challenging conditions, which in turn motivated Sara Ali Khan to do the same while shooting for Kedarnath.
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Abhishek discussed Sushant's commitment throughout the making of the film Kai Po Che. He said, "I remember Sushant being very overweight when we auditioned him and my condition to him was that, I showed him a picture of an American actor and I said, 'You got to look like this because you’re a cricketer.' He wouldn’t say much. He was not a man of too many words. But in 3 months, he worked so hard and he would be there at six in the morning for cricket practice, the gym training and by the end of it, he looked like it."

Abhishek talked about his strong bond with Sushant Singh Rajput and his initial intention to cast him in the film Fitoor. However, due to various circumstances, it couldn't happen, and instead, he was cast in Kedarnath. He reminisced about the challenging conditions during the first schedule of Kedarnath, where Sara and Sushant had to film a rain scene all night, leaving them completely drenched. Despite this, the actor displayed remarkable determination, motivating Sara to match his commitment. "Sushant led the way. He did it first and the next day Sara saw him doing it and she also realized that okay if this guy is doing it, I will also do. That’s what drove her to do it," he recalled.

The filmmaker expressed that during the shooting of Kedarnath, Sushant appeared to be 'disturbed', describing him as appearing 'isolated and helpless'. He noted that although Sushant was typically mentally and physically resilient, during that period, he seemed to be struggling emotionally. "He (SSR) was a bit disturbed in those days. He was a very strong guy mentally and physically he could take on anything. He was a great guy. I think he was finding himself to be very isolated and quite helpless. He was drifting away." Abhishek revealed.
Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14, 2020. He was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai. The initial investigation by the Mumbai Police suggested suicide, but the case later underwent further investigation by various authorities, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
