The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of kidnapping its councillor, Ram Chander, only for the alleged abductee to return home later. After his return, the councillor claimed he was threatened by the BJP with false charges from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Chander, who represents Ward No. 28, had recently joined the BJP but switched back to AAP, citing a dream about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as his reason.

Upon his return, Chander released a video message in which he detailed the alleged incident, stating that he was taken to the BJP headquarters and threatened with being framed in ED and CBI cases. "I want to tell BJP, I am not scared of ED and CBI. I have done nothing wrong. I am a soldier of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal," the councillor said in the video shared by AAP.

Earlier in the day, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh shared a video of Ram Chander's son Akash on X, where he alleged that his father had been kidnapped by BJP members who had lured him out of their home under false pretences.

Akash, said that a former BJP councillor had called his father, claiming to be waiting nearby, after which Ram Chander went outside and was taken by four to five men who threatened to implicate him in ED-CBI cases. Akash reported the incident to the police, prompting senior AAP leaders to contact the police commissioner. Following this, Chander was allegedly sent back home by his captors.

The BJP, however, denied the allegations, with Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor dismissing the claims as lies and sensationalism. Praveen Kapoor asserted that Ram Chander was at his residence and accused AAP of spreading false rumours.
