Baba Siddique Murder: The conspiracy that led to the killing of former Maharashtra minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique was hatched three months in advance, news agency ANI reported on Tuesday citing Mumbai Police officials. The planning for the murder took place in Pune, the report said. The Mumbai Crime Branch has so far recorded the statements of more than 15 people, according to the police.

According to the police, the investigation so far has revealed that Pravin Lonkar, one of the arrested accused, and his brother Shubham Lonkar, an unapprehended suspect, gave Rs 2 lakh to the suspected shooters Gurmel Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, both of whom are currently in police custody.

The funds were routed through Harish, the police said. "Along with the money, two mobile phones were also provided to the shooters, Harish has been living in Pune for the last 9 years. The investigation also revealed that the accused used the social media app for chatting and for making calls," the police stated. Singh and Kashyap learned to shoot by watching videos on YouTube, the police said.
